Introduction to Microsoft Office 365
Overview
This is an introduction to the core Microsoft Office 365 tools.
With a combination of demonstration and real-life examples, facilitated by Lindy Hockenbary, you’ll explore the many possibilities for choice, collaboration, and communication within the Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs.
In 8 sessions (90 minutes each), the topics will include:
Using Using Outlook and Calendar to collaborate and communicate with learners
Introduction to OneDrive to understand the platform and how it works
Using OneNote for organization and to save time
Teams Meetings and Microsoft Whiteboard or Stream for instruction and collaboration
Using the Microsoft Accessibility Suite to meet the needs of every learner
Using Word Online and PowerPoint Online for feedback and collaboration
Using Sway for creation and collaboration
Using Microsoft Forms for learning, assessment, and course feedback
Participants will learn how to streamline "classroom" workflows and integrate blended learning into their lesson planning by designing literacy-learning activities using Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Calendar, One Note, Teams, Microsoft Whiteboard, Word, Powerpoint and Sway, and Forms.
Session 1: Outlook and Calendar
Learn how to spend less time on administrative tasks, such as email, and more time on what really matters: working with learners.
Learning objectives:
Participants will be able to use Outlook and Calendar to create systems to ensure effective communication between instructors and students.
Participants will be able to leverage using Outlook and Calendar to support effective student collaboration.

Layouts
Increasing email efficiency: templates, filters, sweep, rules, snooze, categorize, add-ins
Archiving
Calendar view and settings
Creating multiple calendars
Session 2: Introduction to OneDrive
Using OneDrive is a key skill to effectively utilize the Microsoft suite. This session will set you up for success with OneDrive. You will learn the difference between OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint and when to use each tool. We will take a deep dive into OneDrive and prepare you to manage your files in the cloud. Once your files are in the cloud, you will be able to take advantage of the Office Online products.

Session 3: Using OneNote for organization and to save time
Learn about your digital three ring binder: OneNote. OneNote can be used to organize your instructional materials, including lesson plans, notes, research, resources, and more. If you are looking for some organization in your teaching practice, OneNote is the tool for you!

Session 4: Teams Meetings and Microsoft Whiteboard or Stream for instruction and collaboration
Learn how to use the video call feature of Microsoft Teams: Teams meetings. This is a great video call alternative for meeting with students and colleagues. We will also learn Microsoft Whiteboard, an online whiteboarding tool that is great for both direct instruction and collaboration with students.

Session 5: Using the Microsoft Accessibility Suite to meet the needs of every learner
Learn how to create an accessible experience for all students using Microsoft’s Accessibility Checker and Translate tool. We will also learn about the amazing accessibility tool available to all your learners: Immersive Reader.
Learning objectives:

Session 6: Using Word Online and PowerPoint Online for feedback and collaboration
Research backs the importance of effective feedback for the learning process. Learn how to create a feedback loop and collaborate with students in Word Online and PowerPoint Online. We will also learn how to use PowerPoint to create interactive learning activities.

Session 7: Using Sway for creation and collaboration
Sway is a tool that should be in your instructional toolbox. Sway is a multimedia powerhouse that opens a world of creation possibilities for you and your students. Sway is web-based, so Sways can be created and viewed on any device. Learn how to use Sway to cultivate your student creative abilities.

Session 8: Using Microsoft Forms for learning, assessment, and course feedback
Microsoft Forms is a survey and data collection tool. From an instructional perspective, it is an invaluable tool for formative assessments. Learn how Microsoft Forms can save you time and help with data collection and assessments.
